Gay Barcelona

Be sure to check out the events section of this guide to learn more about the regular theme and party nights that some of the larger clubs put on occassionally. These can become regular events duing the Summer, such as "Gay Day" of the legendary Gay T Dance, which is sadly no more...

Metro has a rather interesting and underground feel to it with backroom and porn chamber, and gets hot and sweaty in its sprawling labyrinthine dance space. The largest gay club in town, Salvation sports two main rooms playing some hard-to-place music that certainly seems to get the men-as-muscle flexing. Martins is a busy, cruisy ultra late-night venue, opening midnight and pulling in the older crew from nearby Eagle and New Chaps.
Afterwards its on to one of the "After Bars such as Salvation, Lokotron of Balmes 88, but these are mostly held at weekends or on public holidays. Check the listings or the blog for up-to-date information.

If you're planning on going out on a Saturday Night then Martins Disco is a must. Their "Men Only" Parties are legendary and their "Thank God its Saturday" Parties will leave you comming back for more.
A Night Out in Barcelona

As the night winds past 3am, its on to one of the many night clubs and late parties. As Barcelona is home to some of the biggest gay clubs and promoters in Europe, expect plenty of choice in terms of musical style and theme. In short, the Bar scene in Barcelona is wide and varied. There is someting for all tastes. Whether its looking hot with all the pretty-boys in Zeltas, taking in a show at Dietrich's, lounging around in The Shadow Bar or stripping off in Bar Berlin, this is one town where you won't be short on options.

Barcelona is one of the fews cities in the world that combines the attractions of urban tourism with the possibility of laying on a gay beach to sunbathe during the day or to enjoy the animation of the seafront in the evening or at night.
Barcelona´s beaches, 4.2 kilometers long and just a few minutes from the city, are a unique case in Europe of the integration of a large metropolis with the sea.
Barcelona has always been an important Mediterranean city whose life has been linked to the sea. There are some amazing gay beaches in Barcelona for you to enjoy.

At the gay beaches, users find the services and facilities necessary for their visit to be as comfortable and safe as possible, along with a whole series of activities that guarantee a good time. The cleaning and sanitary control programs for the sand and the sea and the quality of the services and infrastructures have allowed Barcelona´s beaches to be awarded five blue flags and an honourable mention in the area of safety for the current year.

Bogatell

Mar Bella

San Sebastian

San Sebastian is the other gay beach located to the very right of the Barcelona beaches at the entrance tower of the sky lift. Watch as the beautify boys of Barcelona strutt their stuff and the Go Go boys hand out flyers for the nights parties and events.

Montjuic Park
Gay Barcelona has a lot of gay cruising spots.Montjuic Park is popular both day and night. Here you will find some hot guys cruising the parks. Many will spend an afternoon simply lazing around until they find a guy that catches their eye. Lots of non-nationals, Brazilians and North African guys too. Some gay-for-play, but plenty of horny boys just looking for fun too.

Chernnobyl Beach
One of the most popular gay Barcelona cruising spots on the beachfront is Chernobyl gay Beach. This is really a summer cruising spot (April to October) and is busy mostly during the day, although during the hot summer months of July and August it can be busy up until 8pm.
Hot Boys, Hot Saunas... Hook Up, Get Lucky

Saunas are very popular in Barcelona. And not just late at night... they are a 24 hour affair.
The biggest company is Grupo Pases who have 4 Saunas in Barcelona.
Sauna Casanova is the most popular and youthful "men's health" complex, bang in the centre with a brilliant red neon sign behind frosted glass luring in off the streets punters of all ages. Sauna

Entrance rates vary and additional services such as Saunas etc cost extra. There are often special promotions available... especially for the younger clientele. Check out the events section for details on when the saunas hold special events and parties.
The saunas get especially busy during the weekends and on public holidays. Other busy times can be during the siesta period (from 2 to 5) and after work (8pm ish...).
Finally you can't mention hook-ups without mentioning "Boyberry", the Sex Shop with a difference. Video rooms, cabins, internet access and large dark room make this a good place to find a guy who is in the mood for fun!
Dining out IN Barcelona

Something for Everyone
Barcelona is the perfect place to get a great bite to eat. You will find culinary delights which combine tradition and cutting-edge cuisine. We haven't limited the list to Gay-only restaurants as that would leave out some of the most amazing dining experiences that you're likely to ever experience. No we're not joking. Food is like Sex in Barcelona! Gay Restaurants Review

Gay owned restaurants in Barcelona offer some great food, reasonably prices, combined with good service and a friendly atmosphere. Its worth noting that the restaurant scene is a little more dispersed than the bar and club scene, so you don't expect to find every restaurant right next to one another. While there are some great restarants in the gay district, it is worth venturing out to Born and other districts to savour some inspiring menus and delicious wines.

For those of you seeking an entertaining meal, check out D-Divine. The show is genuinely funny and the food is tasty. We recommend you reserve your table if you plan on visiting at the weekend (Mon to Fri - 12pm to 4pm) (Wed to Sun - 10pm to 2am).
For something truly different, check out Iurantia. A wide variety of surprising salads and carpaccios are on offer, created from a fusion of culinary styles (Doritos salad, Churruca Salad, SUKI YAKI deer carpaccio, salmon carpaccio…) Their homemade pastas, pizzas and hamburgers are also highly recommended.

Finally, last but not least for the show themed restaurants is Miranda, complete with 40's cabaret decor, drag queens, acrobats and dancers! We kid you not! They also have a great wine cellar for those with a distinguished palette.
So after sampling the glam, why not try a night of style and sophistication. Porquesi is a relatively new addition to the restaurant scene and is keen to make its mark. Dine on delicious tapas while you chill out in their VIP lounge (yes VIP lounges are very fashionable in Barcelona). Listen to some really cool latin music as you savour the flavours of a delicious latin-caribbean menu.

Barcelona is fascinated with the latest trends and the restaurant scene reflects this fascination. One of these trends is the "Art Restaurant". So if Art is your passion, then both Mui and Freud Art are definitely worth a visit. The cuisine at Mui is Mediterranean fusion with a menu that is both adventurous and pleasing. And if Freud Art's menu doesn't leave you satisfied, their art installations certainly will!
Phew! And we have merely scratched the surface. As the site grows we will add further reviews on the restaurants listed. If you have a favourite or want to share with us your own comments, email us at restaurants@gaybarcelona4u.com and we will be happy to include your feedback.

The Boqueria, the city’s main food market, features a mouth-watering array of produce. At the entrance to the Boqueria is the counter of the Bar Pinotxo, where Juanito will engage you in some of the liveliest conversation in town and his nephews serve you food that will really hit the spot. Cod dishes to revive you, capipota (brawn) with a new twist, or fish which is so fresh you’d think it was still swimming. A hearty breakfast for diners who like to try something a bit different. If tourists, with or without a watch, shy away from of this kind of wake-up call, they can make do with a more frugal repast at the nearby patisserie Escribà, where the croissants have a French accent. From 12 noon to 1 pm: aperitif time

The second option: a foray into the world of the most cutting-edge, outstanding and serious restaurants. A generation of cooks, or a regeneration, who will secure Barcelona’s position as a gastronomic capital. The city’s restaurants are well worth noting down in any gourmet’s diary and underlining in chilli pepper red: Hisop, Saüc, Alkimia, Valentí, Ot, Colibrí... Catalan cuisine brought up to date, degreased and demystified.
5.30 to 6 pm: a snack

9 to 11 pm: dinner

Thirteen restaurants which will leave you floating on air: Àbac, Alkimia, Caelis, Drolma, El Racó d’en Freixa, Gaig, Hoffman, Jean Luc Figueras, Lasarte, Moo, Neichel, Saüc and Via Veneto.
Gaig’s truffle cannelloni. Neichel’s lobster tartare. Figueras’ crispy suckling pig. Puig’s sea cucumbers with laurel-perfumed potatoes. Pellicer’s steamed foie gras. Freixa’s pea soup with pancetta.

They Gay Calendar is wide and varied. From the acclaimed Loveball to the International Film Festivals (yes, we have 2), the gay party circuit is one of the busiest in Spain.
Sticking to a gay-only calendar however would rob you of some of the best festivals in Spain. From the quirky "St Georges Day" to the unmissable "Merce", people party in Barcelon 24 hours a day, so make sure you go for your afternoon siesta, you're going to need it.
