Out 100: TR Knight, Meredith Baxter, Rufus Wainwright, and Christine Quinn Honored on the Out 100 List

Out-100_tr-knightIn its 16th annual Out 100 issue, Out magazine commemorates the 100 most influential and inspirational gays, lesbians, and allies who continue to lead the community to future moments worth celebrating. This week the Out 100 continues its online rollout with actress Meredith Baxter, actor T.R. Knight, musician Rufus Wainwright, and New York City council speaker Christine Quinn.
The 2010 Out 100 celebrates prominent out actors, including Baxter and Knight, who continue to please fans worldwide. “I feel like I’m being honest for the first time,” the Family Ties star told People magazine upon coming out in December 2009. The actress has been with partner Nancy Locke for four years. Knight, still missed on Grey’s Anatomy, made his way back to the legit stage with a turn in the L.A. production of Parade and then starring alongside theater heavyweight Patrick Stewart in Broadway’s A Life in the Theater.
Wainwright, meanwhile, churns out a dynamic mix of tunes, from his re-creation of Judy Garland’s concerts at Radio City Music Hall to his full-length opera, Prima Donna. With 11 years of service under her belt, Quinn not only serves as the city’s leading champion of gay rights, but she has quickly become the most eligible candidate to succeed Michael Bloomberg as mayor.
Other notable Out 100 honorees announced this week include Emmy-nominated Chris Colfer (Glee), chart topping Scissor Sisters (returning with their third album, Night Work), openly out R.E.M. front man Michael Stipe, and Academy Award nominated writer-director Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right).
